When we engage in physical activity, our bodies release endorphins—natural chemicals that act as painkillers and mood elevators. These endorphins create a feeling of euphoria commonly known as the "runner's high," which can significantly reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
Exercise positively influences brain chemistry by increasing the production and release of endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, and regulating cortisol and norepinephrine levels. These biochemical changes contribute to improved mood, reduced stress and anxiety, enhanced cognitive function, and overall mental well-being. Regular physical activity is a powerful tool not only for physical health but also for maintaining a healthy and resilient brain.
